⭐ 2 — Fair pay and treatment *:
Pay was fine and there was decent hours, however, we were never given our legal breaks – some girls were working 6+ hours, starting at 6am without a break. Quite often it would be so busy you wouldn’t even have time to drink water, I was told I would be trained properly and this never happened, was told to not touch the coffee machine so quite often just ended up being a dishie and feeling pretty useless
⭐ 1 — Job matched the promise *:
Again, never got the training I was promised, was made to feel inconvenient and felt like the original conversation where I’d set expectations before starting had never happened. Hours were generally there but would randomly cut them and cut me from working weekends – probably because they wouldn’t let me make coffee lol
⭐ 2 — Work-life balance *:
Hours were early starts and you wouldn’t really get days off, I also worked at another of their places and had late finishes so was pretty exhausting. You’d end up staying late at work (great in terms of hours) but stressful when you then had to drive 20 minutes home before starting at the pub 2 hours later
⭐ 2 — Friendly, easygoing team *:
Couple of nice people, never really got too much time to get to know people, was super busy and people seemed scared to get told off if we were chatting
⭐ 4 — Quality of accommodation (if applicable):
Was nice, had a private unit but did end up being a 20 min drive away in the next town along, made it hard to save money because you were spending so much on petrol and also when working doubles 6 days a week spending a lot of time in the car was annoying. Was helpful to work here because it was the only decent food shop and there was a gym in Jurien Bay
⭐ 2 — Likelihood you’d recommend to a mate *:
Nah, management was inconsistent and made it pretty stressful
Overall Experience:
Overall not great, mostly from the treatment – seemed like most people weren’t too happy with the work expected of them and the way they were spoken too or the hours worked. Didn’t even get food discount, you did get free coffee on shift which was nice though. Hours were there but wouldn’t recommend unless you already have top barista skills and don’t mind being spoken to like you’re a bit stupid
