I will start from the good side:
– 2 big kitchens and common living room
-you can live in shared flat or bungalow(if it’s available and it costs only $10more)
– the hostel manager is nice and provides transportation to work
-if u work less hours your rent will be $170 not $220
-the hostel is cleaning daily, they changing sheets and cleaning rooms once a week
-supermarket is nearby, and the greyhound bus stop as well
– the bus driver will pick you up from Cairns Airport if needed for free
– pay is around $30 per hour
This is working hostel so my friend and I, we didn’t expect luxury, you can get used to it BUT the hostel manager ofc said the work is available, after two and a half week we got a job at the banana farm and we worked ONE AND A HALF OF THE DAY, next week? Two days 🙃 I understand that you cannot control how many bananas will grow but the manager will still hire more people every week to leave the next one. For boys picking, for the girls sorting or packing bananas. If you like parties this place is for you, but rave every Thursday, Friday and Saturday (I’m not joking), smelling weed every night in the hallway can be little too much sometimes. If you don’t have a choice to do your 88days I would consider something else, after 2 months we gave up realizing that it will only take us 5 months to complete the days.
