    Worked Here in 2025

My experience at Lake Janis Farm was unfortunately not positive. I personally did not appreciate the way I was treated, and I found that there was a high turnover. In my case, workers could be asked to travel long distances but sometimes were let go after only a couple of days, which made the situation quite unstable.

I also felt that the job tasks were not clearly explained. Most of the information I received came from other backpackers rather than from the management team. From my point of view, the farm focuses heavily on productivity, which made me feel that backpackers were not a priority.

On a positive note, the property itself is absolutely beautiful, and the accommodation is fairly good. However, it is important to know that it costs $150 per week per person, with no Wi-Fi and no phone reception at all, even with Telstra. No one staying there could contact their family unless they walked outside and far enough away to catch one bar.

In terms of work conditions, I was paid the legal minimum, and I generally worked around 35–38 hours per week when the weather allowed it.
